I just got off the phone with Apple. Random. Out of the blue they call me. They asked me if I had upgraded to 10.7.1 and if the Wi-Fi problem still persisted. I said yes. He asked me if I would be willing to take part in a program to install some special "crash and error reporting software" to help "nip this in the butt." and I said "Yes, I've heard all about it on websites and forums." He paused and said "Oh, I see." I declined and told him that I had downgraded 10.6.8. and understood. He asked me what model computer. I told him and he said "Okay. We'll be in touch. Thank you."

Clearly this wi-fi thing is a bit of a problem....duh.

(And yes it was Apple. They were aware of how many times I had updated and then downgraded and even saw that I had a file with them going back to a Powermac 6500 I first bought.)

Anyone else getting calls?

I hope that you at least had a chance to tell him that the correct idiom is "nip this in the bud" not "in the butt".

Wow. That's very interesting. I sure haven't ever gotten a call like that, although I'm also not having problems, so I probably couldn't help. I have, on the other hand, had Apple techs (both Geniuses in the local Apple Stores and from Apple's phone centers) call me for troubleshooting help. Heh. I work at an Apple Specialist, and they seem to call the closest one to a customer sometimes and ask for help if they're either stumped or are considering recommending someone come to us. It's quite fun to have them asking me questions about what might be causing the symptoms a customer is seeing.
