Got curious and opened the X11 utility from Apps/Utilities/X11

a. First off, no harm done by simply opening it, right? (I just saw something that seemed like a sort of terminal window and immediately closed it and ended the X11 app.)

b. What is it for? what does it do?

Thanks

It lets you run programs on other Unix or Linux systems and have them open their interface on your Mac.

Right now I'm running a test tool on a Linux system in our computer lab and the gui is open on my MacBook Pro, using X11 to display it.
