I now have upgraded an iMac 5k to El Capitan, hoping I could get everything working in my studio with an Ensemble Firewire via thunderbolt to FW adapter(Apple’s).

Nothing worked at first, then reinstalled El Capitan last night, and rechecked all connections. The Ensemble showed up in Apples’ Audio/MIDI Setup as an option, as usual; but, Maestro 2 did not see and Ensemble connected, but it worked as a stand alone device with no control except from front panel of Ensemble.

Then by accident I had the Ensemble on and restarted the iMac, and Maestro 2 works perfectly now. Previously under Yosemite I always had to start the iMac first and then when I heard the chime, turn on the Ensemble. I was amazed that all is working perfectly now.

I wanted to share this with everyone, as I could find no one with a working system; however, I got someone on Apogee’s Chat to answer a simple question and not the prepared statement of no support, and we supported for so long, and Apple dropped support, etc… I asked if they had any reports from ANYONE with El Capitan and FW Ensemble working, and the person said, yes.

Well, I document here, I have everything working fine as always under Lion & Yosemite. I would be happy to assist anyone who wants to keep their Mac’s up to date, and still have a studio working, and not have to have separate Macs to do this. I also noticed that many things are fixed under El Capitan, like text substitution instantly appearing across all devices as you make a change on any of the devices; and, the same goes for all the other syncing apps like Notes, Calendar, Pages, Reminders, etc…

Best,

Zephar
