Got iPhone replaced...fetch not working consistently

I got my iphone replaced last Monday due to a crack in the back housing and noticed ever since I restored the new phone on my cpu from the backup that fetch (I use Gmail) works decently but nowhere near how the old phone was. The old phone with the newest version (2.2.1) would seemingly fetch gmail almost in a push fashion where I had the setting to 15 min cycles but i swear almost within a minute of a message coming in, id get an alert on my phone. Now it seems like it can go 20-25 mins after a message is received that I get an alert. Anyone else have fetch problems on and off? I'm hoping 3.0 fixes this....
