called apple.com and asked if they would price match. told them target had them for 14%off and the guy said he would check with his manager. manager said that was fine and also gave me free overnight shipping.

wow, congrats on the discount. i don't think i've ever heard of apple price matching before.
 
they said it was a one time exception. pretty good though 14% off and free overnight shipping.

anyone try getting a discount like i got on apple.com?
 
I got an open box from Best Buy for $225 (8GB)... That I returned to Apple with a "screen defect" for a brand spanking new one.

Am I bragging? Yes.

I just called them and tried to do the same. I explained that I could get 14% through Target and asked if they would match that discount. The lady put me on hold, came back, and said that they do not price match. Oh well. If it did work I would have just canceled my Target order I placed on 9/25 (which has yet to ship).

Target has a 10% coupon that is working with iPods including the Touch. Plus free shipping.

Plus if you order through Fatwallet.com after creating an account there, you will get an additional 4.4% "fat cash" back 90-120 days after the order is delivered... additionally as a first time Fatwallet person you will get an extra one time $5 sign up bonus for creating your account.

Soooo....

16GB = (($399 - $39.90) * .956 ) - $5 = $338.40 plus whatever tax you pay on the original $399-10% amount.

Fatwallet.com no longer gives out the $5 sign up bonus to new accounts. According to their FAQ, that offer ended in June.
