Got my Iphone 5 dock today, strange that apple won't make an official one.
Bought mine from http://iphone5mod.com/

I received my iPhone5Mod iPhone 5 dock as well... it works perfectly so far. I received the new design that allows for vertical sync/dock and resting horizontally in the secondary cutout. It's a great design - very nice.

I also got the illumincated cable. It works great either alone or connected to the dock. It's fun to watch the traveling lights in the cable, but it's just a gimmick that will probably soon get old. I haven't seen the direction of the traveling lights reverse. The lights show travel to the dock when connected, or steady on (for a few seconds) when the cable is unplugged.

The lightning port (on both the cable and the dock) is every-so-slightly tighter fit than Apple's lightning cable. The USB end of the cable is bulky - much more so than a standard USB cable.

Overall - I'm very happy with the iPhone5Mod dock and illuminated cable.

Was interested in this dock, till i saw this little bit of info about the dock
This prevents your iPhone 5 from over-charging if you like to keep your iPhone 5 always in place with the dock.

As far as i know, and what i've read, no iPhone can overcharge, due to the circuitry built into them. If a "reputable" company is going to put something like that on their site, in my eyes, they're not very good.

Update on my previous post: my lightning dock died in one day. The illuminated cable still works, but the lightning dock is a brick. I contacted iPhone5mod by email, lets see how they respond.

Sounds similar to the experience I had with it. The phone fit in and said it was charging but after being left in overnight it wasn't charged. I requested and received a refund from iphone5mod through Paypal.

How long did they take to refund you? Am waiting for mine...

An $89 iPhone dock that requires you use your own Lightning cable. People, wake up.

I agree, but people are still buying it, so why won't apple make one
Anyhow, here in Norway everthing is crazy expensive, the 64GB iphone 5 costs $1200

very nice and simple dock.

i wonder if all the generic lightning cable are already well designed and stable for use at the moment.

thinking of getting one myself, but part of me tells me to wait a couple more months.

It's a cost benefit analysis issue. A have vs. have not issue.

Seriously though - that dock from iphone5mod does look like a toilet for the iPhone 5. If that costs more than $10, I would prefer to spend $150 and get something more durable, well designed, and well constructed - and preferably made in America (gotta help the local economy at the same time if possible).

The priority for me to purchase any product isn't how much something costs or brand name - it's quality. Not all expensive brand name items have the best quality. At the same token cheap items almost always fall short of the measure of quality. The sweet spot lies often in the middle - paying a little more often yields greater product satisfaction and durability.
