Just ordered this from the Apple Online store. Also used the college discount for the $100 gift card and discount.

Here are the specs: :apple:

-2.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
-8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
-256GB Solid State Drive
-Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB GDDR5
-SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
-MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
-Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide

It came out to $2,956.16 with taxes added and the discount.

Can't wait for it to come! :)

That is an amazing configuration! With that much memory and a solid state drive that MacBook Pro would fly if it had wings!

Congratulations on your purchase, make sure to keep us updated when it arrives. :) :apple:

Definitely will!

I tried to make it so that I won't need to upgrade my computer for at least my first 2-3 years of school.

I've had my 17" MBP for at least 3 years now (maybe 4) and its just started to fail on me (I've dropped it a few times so its physically damaged..., but its slowing down too and the battery is going).

Congratulations. You got a great machine. It should easily last your first 2-3 years at school.

Congrats ! This is basically the config I will buy but in the 2012 model.

Nice! I was going to wait, but I need a computer for school. I just couldn't use my current laptop even for a semester (computer literally won't run 17 mins when unplugged, and I've even tried switching out the battery... something is wrong internally... and as posted, I've had it for more than 3 years, so I'm almost positive the Apple Care warranty is up)

Very nice specs. Only thing different from mine is the hard drive :D It's a shame that you paid all that money for upgrades that could have gotten your computer even more monstrous speeds, though.

My MBP will be here in NY Thursday. Last track, It has arrived in Memphis, TN. I also have a 2010 15" MBP which i use for work. My new one will be used mostly as my home PC ( Closed lid configuration connected to Samsung LN 46A630 46" HDTV).

Specs for my new one:

2.3GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display

Enjoy it my friend. MBP is a great machine.

shouldve bought your own ram and ssd, and with the money you saved opted for the 2.3 ghz
