So I got the rebate check today... what happens if I try to return the iPod Touch for store credit?

They would probably subtract the amount of the refund from the price of the iPod.

The question is would they know whether or not I got my rebate?

BTW I'm not going to return this; just a question.

Good question. I guess they wouldn't know if you got it or not. It wasn't like a store discount where they took it off at the time of purchase.

Good deal, that was way fast! I am considering selling my iMac and getting a new MB.... I want the portability and $300 off is not bad either!

You have to cut something from the box dont you?

I was surprised; Apple wants to save paper, so they encourage online submissions and no UPC; if they made you send the UPC that would mean envelopes which defeats the whole point.

didn't you purchase your MBP before June 3??

If you did how did you qualify for the iPod?

I bought my computer in February; they gave me a swap on June 1st because my first one warped, I went on June 3rd to ask if I could get the iPod still and they basically bought back the machine and resold it to me so it was on the same receipt.
