Guys, should I get the refurbed 2.33 Ghz MBP (1499) or the refurbed 2.2 Ghz (1449)? What's the difference, aside from the clock speed?

Depends on the other specs, really. If that is the only difference you might as well get the faster processor for the $50 dollar difference. IT isn't that much more speed, but then again, $50 out of $1500 is not much either.

If you don't mind the $50 difference, get the more recent model (I believe the 2.2Ghz is Santa Rosa, which is recent, and has LED backlighting).

the biggest difference, which nobody has mentioned yet, is the graphics card. the 2.33 was the high end of the 2nd generation, so it has the ATI x1600. The 2.2 was the low end of the 3rd generation, so it has the nvidea 8600.

Normally I would say the 8600 wins easily, but given nvidea's problems with those cards, I might be wary.

As a former owner of the 2.2GHz MacBook Pro, I would say go for that one. The LED LCD & the faster video card are nice perks (plus you save $50). :)

I own a 2.33 (17")..and *I* would get the 2.2 SR...for the better gpu and being able to address 4gb of RAM (vs 3gb).

dude or sir get the 2.2 ghz and don't even think of buying the 2.33ghz. the 2.2 ghz has wireless n, newer processor and chipset, better graphics or at least newer, LED backlight which is instant on and instantly turns up to full brightness, better battery life, can support up to 4gb ram and it has a faster dvd burner drive. it is better in every way and worth the extra money. let us know what you decide.
