Today i got the new speck hardshell seethru case for the new macbook pro, they have them for the macbooks too. Really easy to put on and it looks great.

I got the clear version non satin (not a rubber feel) all the ports are accessible including the remote Ir.

Its the perfect harshell case out, nicely cut and and a price tag of $50 at the apple store or other places.
I really recommend this speck case for all you people who want to take care of your beloved macbooks and still have the beautiful aluminum color design without any bulk added.

I like of the look of it, I have the satin for the 2.4 mac book, I would have to say the clear one would be my second choice for sure. Looks good!

yeah it looks awesome in person, it does come in red and pink for now (more colors soon) but i love the true aluminum color so i chose the clear. It give this glossy silver finish to it.

It looks really cool BUT... I've read several posts of the speck hard case really scratching the Macbook when trying to remove the case.

Yeah, that's true.. but a user could avoid some of it if they add some damping between the tighter areas. However, it's worst when you get dust and grim in-between the case and the hardcase!

Well that's nice.. but yeah there will be dust between the case and the laptop, soon enough :(

Yes this is very true, but if your as anal as me about my mac, I would take the case off every couple weeks and give it a good cleaning. but thats just me, mine never gets that dirty just a few fingerprints. mine does not travel very far, the couch to the coffee table and maybe the kitchen table.:)

they say to take it off every month to clean the case.. that way you will never have any problems. with out this case you have a bigger chance of getting yours scratched or dented.

Well... I don't have a Unibody Mac, I do have the Alu MBP and it's more prone to scratches me thinks.

So far mine's about 18 months old and there's absolutely no scratches on the body... Perhaps this is because I'm using a Bodyfilm? Sticks to the body, thin and light! Adds almost zero weight to the machine.

its great for scratches but not for impact - dents in the soft alu

I'd be more afraid of scratching the laptop while taking the case off...

It looks good, but I agree with some of the posters- I have seen the Speck Hardshell cause quite a few scratches on the aluminum body, and having dust particles stuck between the shell and computer is even worse.

I would prefer the invisible shield kind of film for scratch resistance. If I had to get a shell, I would probably take the Incase hardshell.

That was my 2nd choice, the clear. I got the black satin one and I really like it. I took my off after 2 weeks owning it and didn't find any dust so far.

RE: New Speck hardshell for Macbook unibody

I've had mine on for several weeks now and have not noticed any dust under the case and definitey no scratches. The screen opens up all the way, unlike the inCase shell. I have the clear one and recommend it.

I would think those tabs that hold the case in place would rub away the surface over time. Are they soft or hard? I imagine that they are also a bit tricky to take off without scratching the surface.

Which is exactly why I'm not rushing to buy one.

Any aluminum owners take theirs off after a year? What's it look like now?

If there is just the smallest fraction-of-a-milimeter of play between the case and the shell = guaranteed scratches from the case.

If they do really fit tightly, as in- stretched into place, then no worries.

does this thing scratch the mbp? If not, ill buy one.. oh and cleaning it once a week aint a problem for me.
