Hi,

As I am contemplating whether to buy the iphone now that the rest of us can at least dream of affording it, I was wondering whether GPS could be added through software update, or whether that would require new hardware (yes I know about the maps.app)? If it can be done either way, any speculation on how Apple will implement it?

thanks

there were other posts on this in the iPhone section if you search, but basically you need new hardware. But the google maps on the iPhone work great. Go to the store and test it out, its worth it.

My big question is can the Google Maps thing where it plays off your phones towers be added on.

The new motorola Q has that. Perhaps it isn't insanely accurate but it would sure be nice.
