gps in japan not working??

got my iphone 3g today and i can't seem to get gps to find me. i have tried with wifi and with 3g but it just can't find me.. is anyone else having this prob?

I did have a problem for ages. What I found to work was going outside where there was a lot of visible sky.

What I actually done was place it on my window sill, face down and hit locate. It then took about 25-30min to get a fix. Since then, it's fixed in two different towns in under a minute.

thanks ill try that, i take it that you turned off the auto sleep feature?

For me, it sometimes stopped working at some point on a new place. It just keep on looking and looking. But all is well after I rebooted (shut off and on) the phone, it took just under 10 sec to lock down on me outside.

Could it be application that is running behind somehow interfere with it?

i dont know i just restarted it and now i am going to try to just let it search for a while.
