I recently made a long road trip from the northeast to Austin, TX. During our travels, we experienced some lagging performance with GPS and maps (in this case, Google). I attributed this to the areas. However, after having been in the big city of Austin for a few weeks, this issue persists, regardless of where I happen to be in the city; that is, among big tall buildings or out in the open highway, or in the suburbs.

I've read elsewhere of similar reports, but I wonder if anyone here has experienced this. I reported it to Apple, via their Feedback page, as it seems to present a potentially dangerous circumstance while navigating. The new iPhone is supposed to have access to higher-resolution GPS positioning, so these problems make no sense.

Any thoughts on whether this might be hardware or software related?

If you didn’t also try Apple Maps or Waze, there’s no way to know if it’s a Google Maps issue or the phone’s GPS. Or both.
That is a fair point (duh, on my part). Will do and report back.

It’s happening to me as well. GPS is off by about 200ft. Wasn’t ever like this before. Happening on the newest beta
