Hey,
I know nothing is "known" about a GPS being in the iPhone.
But, if the iPhone were to have a GPS would we mostly likely
have to pay a subscription for it like some blackberry's?
or would it be free?

Just wait until June 9th, I don't think they would make us pay honestly, maybe a couple bucks a month....

GPS is HARDWARE! if its built into the phone, they cant charge.

only for the software. but if there will be plenty of alternatives if you want to go down the track of unlocking and jailbreaking it.

I meant what's "likely". Compared to what other phones are currently doing.

even on BB, you can use GPS with Google Maps for free without having to have for Telenav so I would assume you could do the same if GPS is available on the new iPhone.

Since Locate Me is already part of the iPhone feature, I can see Apple doing a joint thing with Google again.

iphone 2.0 MUST have GPS if it is to be considered a credible contender to Blackberry and Nokia. If it doesn't have it I don't rate apples long term chances with iphone.

They can only rely on the awesome multi touch interface so much.

I would be very very surprised if it doesn't have real GPS. The locate me thing is a bit mickey mouse and wouldn't work in outback Australia.
