I am sure this has been discussed in these forums before, but I can't for the life of me find what I am looking for.
I am starting to use FCPX more, and am trying to figure out where the bottlenecks are in my system. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good system monitor to help sort this stuff out? iStat, Menu meter, and atMonitor have all showed up on the radar, although it's hard to tell which ones are up-to-date.
So far, I've decided that my RAM (12 GB) is spending most of the time completely saturated, and my I/O (standard 7,200 drives NOT on RAID) is also slowing me down at times. I have a 48 GB RAM upgrade kit coming.
EDIT: ah yes, before I get flamed - here's my system, although it's not really a system specific question - more of a software question...
MP 5,1 12 core 2.4 GHz, 12 GB ram, 1 GB and 3 GB internal 7,200 drives, with scratch disk accessed through Voyager Q on a FW 800 cable. GPU is 5770.
