I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I've done a lot of searching and can't find an answer.

I want to upgrade the video card on my 4,1 Mac Pro. Nothing fancy, I only game occasionally, so cheap is good. But I do prefer having the full EFI boot screen.

Do any Nvidia or ATi cards support EFI natively? If not, is there a way to flash them so they do?

Thanks for any info

Apple Oem - Ati 2600xt EBAY, 4870 EBAY, 5770 $200 Apple Store, 5870 $400 Apple Store, Nvidia 8800 EBay, gt 120 EBay.

non oem but have efi, Sapphire AMD 7950 $400 Newegg, Nvidia EVGA Mac Editions 285 EBay, and 680 $500 Newegg

i use a pc 670 without efi because its not that important.

Thanks for that. But I don't understand how people get along without it. What if you need to enter the recovery partition or boot from an external device?

i use the bootchamp app to restart into windows from the desktop. and if i need to boot from external ill just use the startup disk menu in preferences. if im gonna do a recovery or fresh install i install the 5770 which i suggest you keep whatever gpu your mac came with.

I wasn't aware that startup disk menu existed. Good to know. Thanks for that!
