Grainy Sounds Coming Out of Internal Speaker

Hi
I am close to freaking out. Because just yesterday the internal speaker is producing grainy sounds ( alot of noise mixed in ) whenever it plays a ringtone or a mp3.

I tried to reset the device, erasing all data, starting from scratch but it is not working. Has any encountered this problem?

Is it possible to screw up the internal speaker by blasting a MP3?

P.S. I am using 1.1.1, jailbreak and unlock version.

Had same version and same problem now for 4 months.. afraid there's nothing believe me, and it will get worse. My speaker has actually now gone silent so just using as an ipod touch, sorry.
