Whenever my Late 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro (automatically) switches from the onboard integrated (Intel HD 3000) GPU to the discrete (AMD Radeon 6570M) GPU visual artifacts (akin to multicolored "digital noise") appears on the screen for about a half of a second (and then disappears). Switching back from discrete to integrated produces no artifacts. It is only a temporary issue and no artifacts appears before or after the switching occurs (it is merely a transient response). However, I fear that perhaps my discrete GPU is going bad and I was wondering if this particular issue is a symptom of a failing GPU.

Example of said artifacts (not my computer):

Radeongate has hit your MBP.

I'd say your discrete GPU is failing which is a known issue with your model MBPs.

Sorry dude :(
