Graphic Card Fan Speed

I have the ATI 3870 HD graphic card and the thing is spinning constantly and it is rather annoying in sound. Is there a way to turn the speed down or put it in idle? I don't see why the card has to work so hard when I am just reading the forums here.

Works great if you have a Laptop. I see you have a Mac Pro. Wish I could help you there.
