Graphic Corruptions: Graphic Card Gone? (Old 2006 MBP)

Hello all,

I am a happy owner of a 2006 MBP 1.83Ghz CD. It served me very well in these 5 years.

However, since about 6 months the display shows some random weird artifacts, graphic corruptions like large chunks of browser windows distorting, or horizontal lines of weirdly coloured pixels and so on.

I tried to clean install but it did not help.

I guess this might be the graphic card saying bye-bye? (It's an ATI RadeonX1600) Or could it be dust and perhaps an internal cleaning could fix this?

Sounds like a busted GPU. You could try Apple Hardware Test to see if it reports anything.
