I've got a 2009 Mac Pro that came with the GT 120, I would also like to (when I get some cash) put in the ATI Radeon 4870 which I've read on here is possible.

-- Now here comes the stupid question? --

Apple are selling it for £250 but I've seen it online for about £130, is there a catch? Is the one Apple are selling specifically for Mac's? Will I have to flash it?

Sorry if it sounds silly, I don't know too much about these things.

Thanks in advance

There are several Threads in this nice Forum in which you can get the answers. But yes, if you buy a PC Version of the 4870 you'll need to flash it or use the netkas injector. The PC Version is cheaper than the Mac Edition.

If you are not into technics stuff, I would go for the Mac Edition cause these will work 100%. Otherwise you are on your own.

I will echo what seisend said about the Mac version "just working". Also consider the fact that the Mac version has a Mini-DisplayPort connector as well as a DVI connector. So if you were to buy an LED Cinema Display at some point it would only work in an Apple card.
