Graphite vs Space Black - SS detailed photos (including Link strap)

Hi all,

I decided to take some close up photos and the Graphite S6 alongside my 3 year old Space Black S3. Trying to show the colour difference is hard as Graphite is more unique to SB in that it changes tone far more depending on the lighting.

Points to note:
a) White balance was the same for each photo.
b) I changed backgrounds as it impacted how the watches looked depending what they reflect.
c) Graphite can be made to look VASTLY lighter depending on how you expose it in photos. It generally doesn't look as light to the eye as it can be made to look in photos although it can take on a smokey silver colour in certain lighting. See image 2 and 3 below. Also see images 5 and 6 where I took image 5 then edited image 6 to get the Graphite matching more how my eye saw the two together.
d) The Space Black link goes ok I think as the black matches the screen.
e) It doesn't matter how clean either watch looks to the eye, their covered in crap under a macro lens!!

So in order the photos are:

1) Graphite watch on it's own. Standard type of shot.
2) Graphite side view with exposure set to replicate what my eye could see
3) Similar photo but taken with a brighter exposure to make the image look the correct brightness. This shows how silver the Graphite can be made to look in photos (which is much more so than it ever looks to the eye)
4) Graphite vs Space Black on white background
5) Graphite vs Space Black on brown card
6) Graphite vs Space Black on brown card *with Graphite edited darker to more closely match my eye*

For me, Graphite is the best colour watch yet. I was getting bored of Space Black but have always been put off the clash between the black screen and the silver of the regular stainless. Had Graphite not come along this year I doubt I'd have even upgraded. It was the deciding factor for me and I think in person, the subtle colour change makes it look more modern than the SB. But to each their own

The Graphite looked very much that light to me at the Apple store. I actually had to do a double take to decipher it from the regular stainless steel. The cool thing about the Space Black is that, in many lights, the case and screen look like one unit. That will be missed in the non-Hermès lineup.

It’s probably the super bright lighting in there. It definitely can look bright thought. I think depending on the light it can probably mimic both the other colours then!

Yup. One member in the titanium thread posted really good photos of the graphite on his wrist changing based on natural sunlight versus indoor ambient lighting, huge difference that really needs to be captured just write to see the aesthetic changes. Graphite is very much metamorphic.

I like the graphite a lot, much more so than the space black. However, none of my bands with metal lugs would match the body, and my OCD won't stand for tat.

Have three Apple leather bands, two of which are saddle brown and black "classic" deigns with a SS buckle and lugs.

I think it has quite a bronze tone, so does seem like a good match for brown bands.

I’m the same - I got a leather ‘classic buckle’ knockoff on Amazon (the connectors are black so not an exact match but you can’t see it in normal use so you can’t tell). I think the combination is really nice.

They look 95% identical. SS6 Graphite on the left, SB6 on the right. The 6 seems a bit thinner but that's about it. Hard to see the difference in the color.

Just got my graphite. It not sure I love it, I’ve had space black for every watch since series 2. Hoping it grows on me!

Yeah that looks slick. I have quite a few bands with black or space grey connectors and they look fine with the graphite. Definitely way better than they looked on my gold ss series 4. Also really digging my red leather loop and sport loop on the graphite.
