Grass is the DEFAULT wallpaper now?

yes, it needs a drab depressing wallpaper like those rocks.

Hmmm, whose copying now, Apple?

This wallpaper ain't bad, but I don't want it to replace the default aqua. Maybe they are just using it as a filler until they make a good wallpaper, or to show off the transparency in the menu bar (Tiger Aqua would be a bit hard to show off the transparency).
 
I'm getting kind of worried that after all these years of apple saying windows copied everything off them that lots of little things like this are going to come back and bite them in the ass

Given all the live preview capabilities built into the new Finder, this is the one possibility that makes sense.

OS X had transparency all along. the amount of transparency given to menus etc. has varied from release to release, but it's been there.

Same as it ever was.
 
The grass was a shock at first (such a stark change from the familiar Aqua-style blue backgrounds we're used to), but I'm a huge fan of green backgrounds, so I kinda like it :) Hopefully there's still an option for a classic Aqua-style background, though...
 
I really, really don't see how you can make out the default wallpaper in Leopard to be a big deal. I mean, really. That's a bit ridiculous. What person doesn't personalize their desktop background to their own tastes anyway? One default can't meet everyone's standards of what looks nice.

I think it went like this:

"Steve, we haven't got a lot for you to demo in Leopard, in fact you're going to have to show some feature's all over again. But we think that if we make the menu bar transparent, and use a dramatically different desktop, everyone will be as thrilled we are".

;)
 
grass, weed, whatever it is, it's all good.

desktop background is one of the first things i change anyways.

Won't take long to make what you want. It doesn't matter what the default is, even if grass is a little strange! I like something reasonably smooth too as a desktop so made myself one which started as a view of earth from space which I call my 'unity' desktop.
