OK, went to update my Panther to the latest:

1. Ran the update
2. It went through the installation and stopped on optimizing
3. Waited about an hour, nothing
4. Forced restart
5. Got gray screen w/Apple logo and spining circle

DON'T HAVE THE ORG. PANTHER DISK, B&W 400 came preinstalled w/Panther when I bought it.

6. Tried to boot up from OS9 disk - Background shows disc loading but mouse has no function neither does the keyboard. Tried several times to startup from this disk.
7. Used my 10.2 disc that came w/my powerbook. Started up and used disc utility. Ran disk permission and verify/repair several times to no avail.

What can I try next?

Harddrive is spinning and sounds likes it is starting up. I have OS9 installed. Also, have 2nd HD w/OS's on it but it doesn't seem to see them (usually it does in the startup control panel).

I've tried to hold down OPTION but it still tries to load the panther, and still get the gray screen.
