By keyboard failure, I mean one or more keys not responding to my physical input.
It's a 13" 2011 MBP, the first time the keyboard failed (J and M keys) on me was earlier this year (probably around March), I was still under the 1 year warranty at the time so I called Apple, and they fixed it for me no problem.
Fastforward to last night, my left Shift key is no longer responding. I don't know what the issue is but I suspect a PCB failure.
I can only guess that this is as a result of me cleaning my keys and perhaps some Lysol seeped from the cotton wool and found its way to the PCB and shorted something out.
I plan on calling Apple once I get out of work to see how much a repair will cost, I know they replace the entire bottom assembly so I think it'll cost me quite a bit. Does anyone have any ideas?
I love my MBP, but at the same time, I like keeping my keyboard clean and free of germs, I'm not a fan of them trying to ventilate the machine via the keys, it allows for foreign objects to get in there. How do you guys disinfect your keys without having this problem? I'm usually careful as I do it once a week.
