A good friend of mine told me today that his mom had spoken to an Apple rep who said their predictions at the store were that walk-ins would have no trouble getting an iPad 2 within two weeks.

What this reminded me of is that the international launch date is in 9 days. A result of that launch is that greater availability worldwide should lead to a decrease in scamming in the U.S. (That said, VAT in other countries could make the U.S. still the most cost effective place for the racket)

Regardless, it would seem that, to go along with the thread bemoaning the lack of ATT 3G iPads available now, that supply should balance out after the international launch, as Apple is no doubt producing way more GSM iPad 2s for that market and will thus have better control over its supply chain after it can measure international demand for the model.

Thus, as someone who's intent on getting a 3G 64GB ATT model in black, I'm going to wait it out till after April 1 and pick one up once I know they're in stock. (I'd order it online, but watching what Apple's been doing to people who ordered on launch day, I think going to the store is a less annoying solution).

So, for those who haven't purchased yet, but plan to do so, are you going to order online, get up early in the next couple weeks and hope for the best, or wait for the fracas to cool down?
