**Insert Back story here**
So I work for a consumer electronics retailer, a locally owned mom-and-pop shop. We currently employ 250 people and were looking for an edge over the growing market, specifically with rumors of Best Buy/Circuit City coming to town. 16 months ago my sales manager approached me with a project. He told me to find the most exciting new product line that could put us, our store image, and our selection head and shoulders above the competition. I had the perfect product in mind, the newly redesigned Apple line up with Intel Core 2 Duo processors. I began researching, preparing presentations, and writing proposals. If you've never been in a situation to try to become an Apple retailer, its NOT an easy process. 4 business proposals later, in October I received a letter in the mail at work. It was the greatest news I'd heard since I started with this company. On Apple letterhead a stated that our company (Basic - "Your Best Buy" Inc.) had been selected as an Authorized Apple Reseller. In December the product began arriving. Also recently Best Buy elected to move to our local market. Their store will be opening in June, so to retaliate our company has designed a state-of-the-art Technology Sales Center consisting of 1800 sq. ft. of Apple, HP, Toshiba, and Acer laptops and desktops, accessories, GPS units, Digital Cameras and other various small electronics. My prudence paid off and I was recently promoted to Technology Sales and Service manager.
**End Back Story**
So now, my boss basically told me to stay on top of the (new to him, very familiar to me) Apple product market and the issues average customers face. My new responsibilities have removed me from the sales floor to an office setting, a 5 day regular work week (no more working retail hours), a guaranteed salary plus department incentives, and best of all... I get paid to order and maintain the most exciting product on the market today. I am virtually getting paid to surf MacRumors from 8-6 every day. This is literally the greatest job for a recent college graduate I've ever heard of!
I write all of that to ask, anyone else in a similar situation where they're virtually getting paid to surf MR?
(sorry for length)
