Having used iPhones for many years and taken many pics in my neighbourhood, I have never encountered the green dot plaguing my pics when taken at night. I understand the cause of this, but I have never experienced this issue with any of my previous iphones including the 7+.

Not only does the green dot appear in pics (which can be removed to some extent with apps like snapseed), it also shows up in video which can't be edited out.

Perhaps my XS Max lens isn't made perfectly? Just curious who else has noticed this?

I get that it plagues all phones; however, I have never had this happen especially in areas, exact locations where I took pics with my 7+ before and it never shows up. Also, ditto with my wife's 7+. This anomaly doesn't really explain why the reflection affects some iphones and not others.

I expect consistency and an explanation why the issue doesn't plague iPhone 7+ in the exact same situation.

I will take the pics to the Apple Store and show them to the Genius rep and ask for a replacement.

This is just lens flare. Replacement won’t fix it. iPhone XS Max has a bigger lens compared to the previous versions that’s why more light can enter the sensor to create a better picture, unfortunately, at the same time it also get vulnerable to more lens flares. That’s why on DSLRs people use hoods.
