is it possible to do a green screen with iMovie, or final cut express?

i'm not sure i want to do one, just curious as to whether its possible

Final cut express has keying built in but you can also buy plugins for iMovie if you're interested in doing chroma keying.

Never use iMovie for anything more than sticking togather a few clips. Its a great app for really simple (and small) stuff, but when your project starts to grow and become more complex, you understand that iMovie is poor.

I suggest using Final Cut.

as long as it's not for broadcast and your not making money from it, do what we all do and download something like Prem Pro 1.5 and use the keyer in that. From my expierence it's been pleasent - pretty easy to use to.

Or be honest and buy it.

I dont condone piracy.

Phew.

Premier also has a free 30 day trial...won't need to pirate it then ;)

You can croma key in any colour and yes it can be done in iMovie however you have to buy the pluggin for it, personally I'd got for Final Cut Pro or Express if you can get a copy.
