Hey there,

I did a quick search for "mpeg support.component green thumbnail" on google. I found a lot of similar threads, but none had answers to how to solve it. I'm not sure if there's a solution out there for you.

This is a post quoted from an Apple Discussion Thread that's got a rough work-around for it.

Got a reply from Elgato about the Green Thumbnail problem. They determined that it only occurs when both Perian and the EyeTV MPEG support component are installed. Perian has already said it's not their problem, and now Elgato says the same, so guess who's problem it is?

I did develop a workaround. I created an Automator Workflow that I use to launch EyeTV instead of clicking on the EyeTV application. The workflow (saved as an application) launches EyeTV, pauses 5 seconds, then finds the EyeTV MPEG support component and moves it to the trash. As a result, the -/Library/Quicktime folder is always left without the EyeTV MPEG component and there is no Green Thumbnail problem when importing videos. And with Perian installed, EyeTV runs just fine without the EyeTV MPEG component.
