greenpois0n jailbreak!! HELP!

Okay so my brother recommended I use greenpois0n to jailbreak my iPhone because that's what he used to get his jailbroken.
Greenpois0n makes me follow all these steps, but when I do it, nothing happens my phone just turns off...
ANY HELP ON HOW TO DO IT?!

your putting it in DFU mode just fallow the steps it list you should get a black screen. www.Iclarified has a tutorial personally I like redsn0w better. this video might help dfu wise to.

So when I put it in DFU mode, my iPhone has to be turned off to start the process?

Did you not read labman's post? It puts the phone in DFU mode; it doesn't turn it off. If you can't make this distinction, perhaps you shouldn't JB--or let you brother do it for you.

Which generation of Iphone do you have? firmware version?

Different iphone/firmware version requires different jailbreak tool to jailbreak the phone. Greenpois0n will not work on all Iphones as well as all firmware version.
