I have a serious issue with my iMac. It seems to have gotten the grey screen issue, however mine is a bit unique. I get the apple logo, then the gear icon, then the screen dims and I get just the gear icon, then my mouse appears and disappears and reappears and continues to show the grey screen with the gear.* Very strange. I have been using Mavericks DP versions and haven't had issues until the other day I decided to "clean up some space" with "CleanMyMac" program. It caused issues with some of my programs not opening and lots of app crashes. So I went ahead and reinstalled the Mavericks DP1, seemed to help. Then I installed the DP2 and DP3 updates. Finally I was attempting to install DP4 and I walked away as it was going, came back and what I described above is what I found.

I tried logging into recovery and reinstalling OSX but it gets hung up trying to log onto the app store or whatever, it never asks for my apple id or pass. I cannot seem to fix my computer. I was able to backup my files atleast to my external HDD through recovery.

Is there a way to reinstall from a CD? If so is there a tutorial on how to make a bootable CD using a Windows Computer? I also cannot boot into safe mode...it loads the login screen, but it will not actually log in after I put my password in. Please help!
