Hi all. I have a couple of file servers (Buffalo linkstation) on my network, a few Windows machines that connect to them, and my Mac using Yosemite.
The servers are SMB servers, and are arranged like this:
\\192.168.1.121\share
\\192.168.1.121\backup
\\192.168.1.121\staff
\\192.168.1.121\info
\\192.168.1.120\share
etc
The Windows machines have no problem connecting to either server.
On the Mac if I hit cmd-K to connect to a SMB device and enter
\\192.168.1.121\ it throws up a list of shared directories, but the main one, 'share' is greyed-out and I can't connect to it. My windows machines, even my ipad using a streaming media player, have no problem connecting to that share. The Mac has no problem with the equivalent folder on the identical .120 server.
This has started in the last couple of days: before that I had no problem connecting from the Mac. Nothing has changed on the network, and I have rebooted the servers, the Mac, the router...
I can't follow advice I have seen to copy the folder to a temporary one and move it back, because it is 1.2TB on a 2TB raid array. And anyway, that seems a knee-jerk reaction, when literally every other machine on the network has no problem connecting.
Any clues? Thanks.
