I was pretty unhappy when the grid Spaces were taken out of OSX and replaced with the more linear Mission control. I was even more infuriated by the fact that window management in Mission control is so crippled: only application windows of the currently active desktop could be transferred to other desktop.

I then stumbled across the app TotalSpaces while reading the Mac Format paper. It fixes both aforementioned problems without influencing Mission control. I couldn't be happier. Check it out at http://totalspaces.binaryage.com/. The app also let's you to shorten the transition animation between desktops or disable the animations entirely.

This may sound like an advertisement but it's not. I was just so happy to find this program and hope that others will find it as useful. I just hope that Apple won't prevent it from functioning in the future.
