Grid type program for apps?

i used to have a pc like 3 years ago and i rember there was a program that turned ur screen into a grid so u could like fit two things beside each other on the screen like for example word and safari...any one heard of this or know if theres one for mac?

The easiest way to get two or more windows running side by side is to simply resize them using the bottom right corner of the window, and drag them around at the top.
