Griffin case and Roadtrip....

I'm trying to figure out if the Griffin Roadtrip car mount will work if there's a case (like the Griffin Wave Case) on the iphone. From a few online searches, the answer is no. It seems bizarre that their products wouldn't be compatible with each other! Does anyone have a Roadtrip and do you always have to remove the iphone from the case to use it? Is there any other fm car mount thing out there that can actually work with a case??
