trying to find an xr case that is fairly grippy and has cutouts (as opposed to coverings) on the side buttons, any pointers appreciated, thanks !

They only have them on the side button but it could still work for what you’re looking for.

Usually its the thinner cases that have cutouts instead of coverings over the buttons...If you aren’t worried about drop protection, something like the Caudabe Veil is grippy and leaves all the buttons exposed...
