iPhone group conversations unmuting themselves (dnd)

i have a group convo with people in it that i always kept on mute (do not disturb) because i don't want notifications from it.

for the past few weeks or so, the convo unmutes itself every day and it's extremely frustrating.

the only difference in my usage was that i got an apple watch..

anyone else?
