I was one of the early adopters who bought the original iPhone before the price drop last year. Since the iPhone is now already subsidized, do you think there will be another price drop in a few months, or is this the price for the next 12 months?

Let the speculations begin...

I wouldn't be surprised to see some adjustments after Christmas. You usually see a rash of discounts then in the UK at least.

Mind you, with a recession on our doorsteps who knows what local tweaking might be done to plans within various countries before then?

Seeing that the phone is subsidized this time, any price drop would come from the carriers this time around. So, it's definitely possible. I just wouldn't expect rebates for early adopters this time around.

I don't know. $99 subsidized is the killer price point in this industry right now (in the US) so I wouldn't be surprised if they get an iPhone down there eventually. Maybe it will take a 32gb model or something like that.

I think the only difference we'll see is the 8GB model will be done away with, the 16GB model will be $199 and a 32GB model will be $299.

MAYBE after Christmas, the 8 GB might drop to $99 or $150 only if a 32 GB comes out.

I think the iPhone will sell itself at the current price points so the price shouldn't NEED to drop.

That's a good point. They dropped the 4GB model of the original iPhone when they made that price drop.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some other colors added to the lineup either.
