grouping compilation artists

well maybe grouping isn't the right word, hiding maybe...

due to me having a few compilation albums, my artist list is about twice as big as i want it to be... is there anyway to hide artists from the artist list that are from compilation albums?

my ipod 5G could do it but i can't find a solution on the iphone?
