macOS Growl notification when new item added to folder

Hi,

Been looking for a solution for keeping tabs on my NAS.
Want to implent something like this:

Tried it just now and it doesn't seem to play well with network folders, I didn't get any notification when items was added.

Next problem is that I don't really want a popup, but rather get a growl notification.

Anyone stumble upon anything like this?

Not working with network folders is simple: non-local disks (and even then non HFS+ disks) don't generate FSEvents so the folder action simply won't trigger.
