I bought 2 14 Pro Max- one Space Black and one Silver skipping the Verizon eSim issues iOS 16 is very frustrating.
On both phones I used transfer data from previous iPhones
1. 14 PM Space Black on iOS 16.0.1- I used transfer data from 12PM- I cant update my AW7 from watchOS 8.7 to WatchOS 9 in Apple Watch app on the phone -as I get a message that my phone is not on the most updated iOS
I tried reboot then unpairing and repairing-didn’t work. Called Apple support got pushed 2nd tier. They recommended resetting network settings-doesnt work
Then they recommended recovery mode and reinstall 16.0.1 and unpaired/repair- doesnt work
cant update from Watch as well-setting/general/software update- as it says there is an error checking for the update
last suggestion Apple tech recommended was use the other 14PM to update to watch OS 9 as my gf AW 4 that was on 7.3.3 was able to update to Watch OS 9 as her 14PM with Apple Watch app showed the watch OS9 update!!!! I have not tried this yet with my AW7.
The Apple tech stated there has been some issues with AW updates on iOS 16 but was vague(he specifically has not seen or heard of mine)….
2. 2nd 14PM Silver on iOS 16.0.1 that was migrated with data transfer from 11PM on 14.3.
I could not update her phone to iOS 16.0.1 as there is a repeated message in software update- error checking for an update.
I had to use a MacBook Pro to install 16.0.1 and even after the update still get the same message in general/software update- error checking for update
Such odd issues that likely will not be common.
In order to fix these I am betting I will need to go an erase all settings and data to start over new. I will then need to set the iPhone up as new and not transfer from the old iPhones. I will of course after setting up I will use a backup of important data from an iCloud backup
