So i ordered a BTO iBook the day that they came out and the estimated shipment date was 8/4. That was fine because i knew i would be out of town from 8/1-8/4 and then i could just get it when i got back. So i'm out of town on the first and i check the tracking page only to see that my iBook got there early. Unfortunately i knew that nobody would be able to sign for it because all my friends work during the day like everyone else does.
So i called Apple up yesterday to ask them if they could please allow Fedex to hold onto my iBook even for an extra day since they had already tried to deliver it three times and so i had a chance to pick it up when i got back into town. The gentleman i spoke with at Apple said that he had written Fedex a note to hold on to it and not ship it back to Apple right away. Then i waited a couple hours and called Fedex to confirm that they had received the request to hold onto the package and she indeed said "Yes" they had received it and i should be able to pick it up when i get back. So now i'm all excited about finally receiving my iBook and i get to Fedex right at 9AM this morning when the doors open and the lady goes, "Sorry but it's already been sent back to the seller." GRRRRRRRR and the worst of it is that she checked the account and said that there is no record of a request made by Apple to hold onto it.
Now i called Apple back upset because this is exactly what i was trying to avoid and now it can take weeks for them to get my iBook back and then send it out again. However the Apple guy was apologetic and said that they would put in a new iBook order with the same specs to be sent to me (to the front of the manufacturing line and expedited shipping) so that i can receive it next week and they would hold onto the original iBook when they received it.
Sorry for the long post but i needed to vent. Here's to hoping i'll get to play with my new toy next week.
