I have S4, my wife IP5. It seems for indoor pictures in an average light ("normal" light) that the S4 struggles and is a bit noisy. The IP5, however, the pictures look spot on. Outdoors the S4 is stellar, while the IP5 is real good....but not in S4's league. Just wondering if there was a reason for S4's struggles in normal indoor lighting.

I thought s4 sensor was larger than s3 , note 2 and iphone 5....they all take better indoor normal light pics than the s4 does

There is a night mode but that is for real low light....doesn't work well in a normal lit room

I was expecting comparison samples...

For the light sensor size, you need to look at the micron size, not megapixel.

When cramming more megapixels into such a small space, they have to make the microns smaller to compensate.. which lets less light in.

The HTC One's camera has only 4 MP but way more microns hence better visibility in low light.

However, I've owned both HTC One and the S4 and I much prefer the S4's camera.

The HTC One's photos look terrible if you need to zoom at all.

I am a "Newbie" to these forums. Will attempt to post some comparison shots. I was just trying to get a feel if this was a common observation about the S4's camera.

OK, test shots. As the sun is still up, I took these in our dark garage. The first shot is of the garage with the overhead light on (taken a couple of days ago). The window on the left is mostly covered by a dark sheet. In the test shots, the door to the house is barely cracked allowing a little light in from the inside of the house.

The iPhone 5 is definitely better on full auto in a dark environment, but I was surprised at how much difference the Auto Night Mode makes on the S4.

Draw your own conclusions.
