I would like to know what I should do about this.
I never had this problem with the first iPhone, and havent really seen anything like this on the boards.
Anytime I am in a call, I can hear the GSM buzz coming from the ear-speaker, and it lasts the entire call. It isn't very loud, and is manageable, but it is still annoying.
What should I do? thanks

Do you have a metal plate in your head? :D

The main reason for this occurring is due to the fact that there is either metal or another device that is intercepting/disrupting the cell signal. My best suggestion would be to not use it near another device that could do this. However, you say that this is happening during every phone call, so it may be some kind of internal flaw that is causing this; if it does not stop, I'd get it checked out at the Apple store and see what the genius people say. Hope this helps! :)

I'll be in Portland at the Apple Store in a few weeks. I'll have a genius check it out, Thanks!

kind of along those same lines. everytime I turn up the ipod kind of loud it sounds like I have a blown speaker in my left earbud so I've got to keep it soft... any help?

I have the same thing going on to. I have just noticed it within the past month or so. With that said, I am thinking it might have something to do with some kind of fimware update they have done. I never had a problem before with GSM buzz, only when I tried to play my music near speakers occasionally. The bad thing about taking it to the genius bar for me is that my 1st gen phone is black. I took mine apart about 2 months after apple gouged the prices and then dropped the whole 4gb models. Thank god I splurged and bought the 8gb one.

Im going to do some research to see if there is an answer. If so, Ill be back. If not, I might just be heading down to the local ATT so I can start recieving MMS. Haha.

headphone is bad... return it to apple

and do it quickly before you give it some cosmetic damage that they'll blame on you and then they'll try denying you a warranty replacement.

I'm having the same GSM Buzz throughout all of my calls. It just began less than a week ago. It is incomprehensibly obnoxious. It's one of my least favorite type of interferences and now it's in every SINGLE phone call I make. killer.

My phone is 3 months out of warranty - HELP!

Thanks in advance for the input!

To kick this back alive:

My phone (a 3gs 16gb, 1y old, waranty 2 days left) is having the same issue - the "gsm buzz" during calls.

Sounds like a speaker when you hold a phone next to it while you're getting a text message. Except it's on the phone itself while you're making a call...

Any suggestions / solutions / ...?

Thanks,

MVa:confused:

I got a message from an apple-genius-type of person (the Belgian counterpart ;o): Probably it has to do with the shielding of the speaker...
