GSX Report - is this iPhone 6 plus from Verizon really unlocked?

Hi,

My pleasure to be posting on this forum.

Recently i bought an iPhone 6 Plus on eBay. The seller listed the phone as a new one from Verizon.
I live outside USA, and a friend of mine, bought this iPhone for me.
The seller didn't activate the phone, just took the sim card out of the box, as he told me.
I will get this phone next week, i just asked my friend to send me the IMEI to check the unlock status of the phone. As far as i know, it have not been activated yet on Verizon.

I got this information from Chronic Unlocks regarding the carrier information about this iPhone:

But, if you take a look at Simlock information it is reported as Locked.

I haven't try any sim card from another GSM carrier yet, but i am feeling worry about getting this phone locked.
Is it locked to another CDMA carrier and unlocked to any GSM carrier?

Is it possible that Chronic unlocks has some bad info there?

All LTE phones sold by Verizon are required to be carrier unlocked per an agreement with the FCC, so that aspect shouldn't be an issue. If someone bought it from Verizon subsidized under contract you should be free to use it. I'm not sure what the status is, though, if they bought it under a payment plan.

I'd recommend putting your SIM in prior to powering on the device. If it initially gives you an activation error, try a DFU restore while plugged into iTunes.

I think it says Unbricked because this iPhone have not been connected to iTunes yet, but the Locket status is still there.
Maybe it will change to Unlocked once a new GSM SIM card is inserted. I hope so.

Perhaps for international use it is sim locked and will only be able to use US sim cards? I would assume as long as it shows it's Verizon, it can definitely be used on any carrier in the US, barring it being listed as stolen.

I investigated so much about Verizon iPhones 6 before I made this purchase, as far as i know, Verizon iPhones 6 should be unlocked for any GSM, but this GSX report, makes me feel worry about it.

Umm I dunno about you but when I put in T-Mobile and ATT SIMs into my VZW 6+ it worked.

Just for ***** and giggles I even put in one of my family member's SIM from an out of country carrier and it registered onto either of the GSM networks.

Oh also, when I was in China for a business trip, the SIM from China Unicom in the VZW 6+ works just fine.

So yeah, it's unlocked on the GSM part.

No, you don't need to do nothing to a verizon lte iphone.
Its automatically unlocked.
I wouldn't worry about those imei websites.
If its really a verizon iphone 6 then its fully unlocked. Just relax and wait till it arrives so you can use it.

Nope. The only thing that makes it a VZW phone is the ESN in the phone is in VZW's approved device database.

Someone put a VZW's SIM card into their TMobile branded 6+, and guess what, it registered onto the VZW's network for both data and voice. Although in the VZW account manage page the phone shows up as NON-VZW-DEVICE or something like that.

As the chipset which drives the communication gets more unified, the only difference is just going to be what they are branded for. Pretty soon, maybe in a generation or two later, all iPhones will come from one place and all it matters is how it identify itself onto the carrier's network, i.e. the SIM or UIM cards in the phone.

You should be fine then. No need to worry until it actually arrives, but even then, any SIM should work just fine due to it being a Verizon iPhone which was confirmed at least by the IMEI check.
