Before I start I just want to say that I tried to look at the other threads about this topic but I couldn't understand them. If you want to help, please limit the use of any verbs other than "Click on" (as in "Click on X") and "Type" (as in "Type X here")
Screenshots would be most welcome.

I want to use Gtalk on my Mac.
System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.5

I tried the google page about this topic but the screenshots use Mac OS X Tiger. I cant understand this. Please dont ask me to use it. What I would really like is something like this google page but for : Mac OS X 10.5.5. Is there anything like this out there or can someone explain how to use Gtalk on my Mac.

First of all, try not being so hostile while asking for help.

Secondly, are you trying to get it on iChat, or are you just trying to use it within the Gmail interface?

I have it set up with Adium, so I can't answer your question if you're wondering about iChat.

hi

I dont care which one I use. iChat or Adium is fine. I tried to use both but couldn't.

What step are you having trouble with? Can you post screenshots of how you have the account set up?

Clueless

I have no idea what I`m doing. I need a step by step explaination of how to use gtalk with Mac OS X 10.5.5

The steps are the same as the Google link above.

Configuring iChat for Google TalkPrint
If you'd like to use iChat to connect to Google Talk, make sure you have Mac OS X Tiger installed on your computer. If you're using a Mac OS older than Tiger (such as Panther), you won't be able to connect to Google Talk.

Here's how to configure iChat to connect to Google Talk:

Open iChat.
From the iChat menu, select Preferences...

Click Accounts along the top of the dialogue box.
Click the + button along the bottom to add a new account.

Select Jabber Account from the Account Type drop-down menu.
Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
Jabber ID:
If you're signing in with a Gmail or Google Mail username, enter your full email address.
If your Google Talk username isn't associated with any Google email product, add @gmail.com to the end of your username. For example, iloveyoko will become iloveyoko@gmail.com.
If you're a Google Apps user, enter your full email address (gordon@example.com).
Password: Your password.
Server: talk.google.com

Click Add.
Highlight your new account in the Accounts section, and then click Server Settings.
Enter the following information in the appropriate fields:
Server: talk.google.com
Port: 5223

Check the boxes next to Connect using SSL and Allow self-signed certificates. You don't need to check the box next to Warn before password is sent insecurely -- your password is always secure with Google Talk.
Enter iChat in the Location field. If this field is left blank, you won't be able to sign in.
Congratulations. You're now ready to connect to Google Talk using iChat.

It's actually much simpler in Leopard.

Open iChat Preferences
Click on the Accounts tab
Click on the "+" sign in the bottom left
Select "Google Talk" as the account type.
Enter your account information. Be sure to include your full email address (myusername@gmail.com) as the username.
Click Continue.

I was just double-checking and saw that.

I set this up just yesterday and was amazed at how easy it really was. It wa sort of like.... "Hey, a option for google... cool" And it just worked.

Still troublesome...

Well, did it work?

I got text chat working but what I really need is audiochat. The people I want to audiochat with are in Myanmar so I can`t use skype. Skype is illegal in Myanmar.

I`ve asked many people and even been to the Mac store (in tokyo) but I can`t seem to get a straight answer. Does anyone know, Can you use audiochat with gtalk via ichat?

Doesn't seem possible unless they are using iChat as well. (Unless ggjstudios was able to find some other info from that search.)
The very first result of that search says:
iChat to Google Chat for Windows does not work. The others MUST be using iChat for you to be able to use it for Audio.
