OK, just finishing my business taxes for 2009 and realized that this year I won't have as many expenses ('09 was a start up year) in 2010. So, I'm looking into adding some items for my MP that I put off last year. Namely, a 30" ACD, more RAM and a GTX 285 (as an upgrade for my 8800 GT). The only issue is that I just noticed that the shipping time for the card is now 1-2 months!?! When did THAT happen?

I thought the GTX 285 would be a good upgrade path over what I have. Right now I use Adobe CS4 Web Premium for creating web graphics mainly in Photoshop and Illustrator. I don't game (this is a work box after all) but I thought that as more and more programs come along that can take advantage of OpenCL this card would leave me sitting pretty.

Crucial!! I had planned on pulling-the-trigger on a second 30" ACD and upgrading from a GT120 to a GTX285 (honestly, got the okay from the wife), this definitely puts a slight delay in my plans...

the nvidia 200 series stoped manufacturing a long time ago.

probably will never come back in stock. said 1-2months for several months afaik.

i seriously wanna pick up a refurb 30acd so i can have dual .. and some more ram and then waiting for hopefully the 5000 series ati if apple updates it

Fermi will be out soon; hopefully we can get an Apple part immediately.
.
That's what I am hoping for but I am not holding my breath.
The only hope of getting one is via EVGA.
I hope they made enough money on the Mac Edition GTX 285 to bring out a Mac Edition GTX 480.
Heck, I'm not greedy, I'll even take a GTX 470.
.

Considering nVidia's wonky behavior in core apps, I would go ATI if I were you.

My GTX 285 does just fine.
Barefeats GPU Shootout, Round Two
Bare Feats conclusion: "Though the new driver and OS release doesn't make the GeForce GTX 285 go faster, it continues to dominate in our extreme 3D tests and competes well with the Radeon HD 4870 in all but one Pro App Core Image test we tried. Therefore it wins the "best all around performance" award."

The US Apple Store has them in stock again. I ordered mine on Monday 15th. It shipped today.
