Hi guys,

Id like to upgrade my Mac Pro 5.1 (Six Core @ 3GHz 24GB Ram) running on up-to-date Yosemite. I would like to grab a new Videocard. Primarily I use my MP for following software...

- Adobe Photoshop CS6
- Adobe After Effects CS6
- Cinema 4D
- Unreal Engine 4 / Unity
- some gaming

I did some research and Iam not sure which one to pick, either GTX980 (non flashed) or GTX680 2GB SLI. Im also not sure if the cards are fully supported within Yosemite without any kind of flashing.

What do you guys think?

cheers,
Alex

There is no SLI under OS X (AMD does support CFX under Windows) but you can use a GTX/Quadro for CUDA.

Strong endorsement for 780 or Titan

This does not test those apps but shows the 980's potential:

10.10.0 won't have driver extension support so keep a system backup restore image (clone) handy (goes for anyone though).
See if MacVidCards has an EFI variant
