I always buy the Pro model. Don't know about you, but as I get older I take less photos and not filming any movies or intense gaming. The idea of a thinner/lighter very capable phone is rather appealing.

Agree. I don't game. I take photos, but not at even a hobby level of photography. I point and click. For memories. Other than that my phone is a utility. I want the best display, because I spend a lot of time looking at it. And I don't want any excess weight or bulk, because it's annoying in the pocket, especially on the go.

I love the look of the Air, but I barely use my phone for anything other than a camera, which is why I'll stick with the Pro. But what Gix1K says makes sense based on lack of importance of the camera.

As somebody who VERY rarely uses the back cameras on his Pro Max (especially the telephoto and wide angle), and doesn't game on their phone either, I think I'm "downgrading" to the Air this year. I'm seemingly the target demographic...

Agreed, this year's 17 is a very usable phone, at least Apple gave it Pro level display and dual-precision GPS.
And on paper (yeah I know the sensors will be different from the Pro), twin 48MP camera system plus the across the board same new 18MP front cam (center stage), A19.

8G, yeah, on paper a bummer, daily use? Doubt it.

As for USB-C 2.0? Coming from 15 Pro Max, and now a 16 Pro user, I have never achieved 3.0 speeds when connecting the phone to either the PC or Mac for file transfer --- it is only usable for external drives and devices directly connected to iPhone, not through finder/apple devices app.

I am actually in this boat. I have a 16 Pro and I am strongly thinking about going to a 17. Thought I need to do more research over the next few days. Pro Motion and 120 Hz kept me in the pro lineup till now. Debating if the difference is worth it.

This is tormenting my thoughts since the event. I think I have to buy the 17PM and the Air. Return the one I don't want. I'd hate to order one and can't get the other for months.

Risky, which are you gonna order first! In case you can't get both for launch day delivery at the same time because of server load!
